Muscular Dystrophy Association of NZ Inc - The Canterbury Branch
We provide practical support, specialist information and life enhancing resources for people living with neuromuscular conditions and their whānau. We raise awareness of these rare conditions, providing education for health professionals, advocacy for care standards and facilitating access to research and emerging treatments. (Neuromuscular conditions is an umbrella term for muscle wasting conditions – we cover around 60 different conditions, many of which are genetic or inherited.)
Regional Branches provide community level support through a Fieldworker service and by hosting social events. The Canterbury branch is based in Linwood, Christchurch, and represents association members residing in the geographical areas defined by the Nelson, Marlborough, Tasman, West Coast, mid and South Canterbury regions.
